At Abyssinian, we do not believe that discipleship is optional for the Christian. Jesus called us to be his followers, not merely church attendees. This requires a lifestyle of learning. Merely attending a Sunday church service is not enough.

In fact, true discipleship will develop a lifestyle of daily study, reading His Word, meditating on it through prayer, and living it out through obedience. To help you in this essential endeavor, we try to provide opportunities (in addition to the regular Sunday Worship service) to dig deeper into his word.

1. To be a church for the 21st century which impacts our community for Christ by reaching out to the hundreds of thousands of unchurched residents of north Jersey through relevant, high-quality, and contemporary ministries that apply the unchanging truth of God’s Word to the changing culture.

2. To be a church where fully devoted followers of Christ are developed through a comprehensive discipleship strategy, whose transformed lifestyles genuinely reflects Biblical priorities, and who find their place of spiritual ministry in the church and life mission in the world.

3. To be a church where all people are welcomed and accepted, where the unity of the Spirit overcomes cultural, generational, racial and ethnic divisions as a testimony to the love of God, and where the hurting, hopeless, discouraged, depressed, frustrated and confused can find love, acceptance, guidance and encouragement.

Discipleship Is For You

On Sunday morning at
9:30 a.m.
we have our Sunday School. It is an interactive study where we encourage everyone to participate in the discussion. We believe that everyone has something to share, that we all can learn from one another, and that we grow best in the context of small groups.
On Tuesday evenings at
7:00 p.m.
we have a time of Interactive Bible Study. We encourage every one to join us each Tuesday for this interactive study. Bring your Bibles, a pen and a notebook. That's all you will need. We will spend time in devotion, Bible study, and intercessory prayer, for ourselves, others, the church, community, and world. We will have you out by 8:00 p.m. Come and invite a friend.
